Wireless AEC6 Mammo
- An intelligent meter that monitors daily quality control and calibration of mammography x-ray machines
- Convenient, fast, and accurate assessment of the AEC systems' performance
The AEC6 Mammo Wireless Meter is specifically designed to calibrate and or assess the calibration of the mammo x-ray machines AEC system. Once the AEC6 Mammo Meter is calibrated to local film/processing conditions (using 4 test films), it can accurately calculate and display film OD without having to process film.
When the AEC6 Mammo Meter is calibrated to represent the local film/processing condition (using 4 test films), its software produces a calibration template specific to the local film processing conditions. The data in this calibration template characterizes the sensitivity, contrast and reciprocity failure of the mammo film under those local processing conditions. The size of the electronic cassette is the same as a
standard mammo cassette and can be placed in the Bucky tray for ‘in-Bucky’ or ‘table-top’ measurements.
Applications
AEC Calibration and Calibration Assessment (For Film Screen):
Once the AEC6 Mammo Meters software has been calibrated to local film/processing conditions; Service Engineers, Physicists or Radiation Inspectors can use the DISC AEC6 cassette instead of the film screen cassette to calibrate or assess the AEC6 calibration of the mammo machines AEC system. Technologists can use this meter at any time to indicate calibration status or calibration "drift". This is a time saver and can increase efficiency specifically for Service Engineers.
Film/ Screen/ Processing Assessment:
Calibrating the AEC6 Mammo Meters software to local film processing conditions includes taking 8 test x-ray exposures (4 film/screen cassette and 4 with the AEC6 mammo cassette). The data collected during those test exposures is loaded into the AEC meters calibration template. The data in the AEC6 Mammo Meter template can now be used to calculate the films sensitivity to radiation (speed), contrast, and reciprocity failure (reduction in speed at lower x-ray dose rates).
Calibrating Mammo Machines AEC system for CR mammo imaging plates:
DISC provides preloaded calibration templates that represent a typical mammo film response to radiation. Using these templates to calibrate the AEC system ensures the regulators that the radiation delivered to the CR Mammo plate is the same or less than the radiation delivered to typical film/screen mammo imaging systems.
